BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Reserve Diamond Johnson scored 19 points, and No. 2 North Carolina State used an 11-2 run late in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 66-58 win over No. 6 Indiana. Kayla Jones scored 15 points, Raina Perez had 13 and star center Elissa Cunane battled through foul trouble to score 11 for the Wolfpack, who haven’t lost since a season-opening defeat to No. 1 South Carolina. Mackenzie Holmes scored 24 points for Indiana, whose only two losses have come against teams ranked in the top 10. The Hoosiers also came up short against Stanford.

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Freshman Shayeann Day-Wilson scored 19 points to help Duke beat No. 9 Iowa 79-64. The Hawkeyes returned from a COVID-19 pause that led to the cancellation of three games. Celeste Taylor added 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Blue Devils. Duke didn’t trail after midway through the first quarter in this Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchup. It marked the first win against a ranked opponent for second-year coach Kara Lawson. Star guard Caitlin Clark scored 22 points for the Hawkeyes. But she made just 9 of 27 shots and 1 of 13 3-pointers.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Brian Dutcher will be back on the sideline at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Saturday when his San Diego State Aztecs play No. 24 Michigan. Dutcher is hoping his Aztecs can get a resume win against Michigan, which is coming off a 72-51 loss at North Carolina. The game will include a reunion of Dutcher and Michigan coach Juwan Howard. Dutcher had a key role in recruiting Howard and the rest of the Fab Five to Michigan in the 1990s.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Morgan Jones scored 12 points with 10 rebounds and a pair of freshmen scored 12 points off the bench and No. 25 Florida State turned back Illinois 67-58 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. O’Mariah Gordon scored a career high and Makayla Timpson matched her best with a career-high nine rebounds for the Seminoles, who ended a two-game losing streak and improved to 12-2 in the challenge with their ninth-straight win. Aaliyah Nye led the Illini with 17 points, Jada Peebles added 12 and De’Myla Brown 11. Illinois, 4-10 in the Challenge, shot 34% (18 of 53) and had 23 turnovers.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Freshman Sonia Citron scored a career-high 29 points, classmate Olivia Miles missed a triple-double by two assists and No. 24 Notre Dame edged Michigan State 76-71 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Miles had 11 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double for the Fighting Irish. Nia Clouden led the Spartans with 20 points for her sixth straight 20-point game. The lead was 55-50 after three quarters and Citron scored four points in a 6-0 run for a 65-55 lead midway through the fourth. The Spartans couldn’t get closer than five after that as Citron hit a 3 and four free throws in the last 2 1/2 minutes.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — New graduation numbers continue to show college athletes are graduating at higher rates than overall students. The NCAA’s annual Graduation Success Rate shows 89% of athletes who enrolled between 2011-12 and 2014-15 earned diplomas compared with 68% in the federal rate of all students. The single-year calculation of 90% matched last year’s record high. The federal numbers do not include students who earn diplomas at a different school than the one where they first enrolled.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez has announced he is putting his name into the transfer portal. The three-time captain started 38 games over the past four seasons with the Cornhuskers and was the first major addition to the program following coach Scott Frost’s hiring. Martinez had his best season in 2021, completing 61.8 percent of his throws for 2,863 yards, with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
