It’s the first of 2 days of state championship football at Huskie Stadium in DeKalb. The day begins with the 1a state championship at 10am with Lena Winslow taking on Carrollton.
The 2a game features 12-1 Nashville, riding an 11 game winning streak, as they take on undefeated Wilmington at 1pm. The Hornets have been to a pair of state title games in the past, in 1998 and in 2019, each time coming home with the runner-up trophy.
The 3a game starts at 4pm with Byron against Tolono Unity. The final game tonight will feature 4a Joliet Catholic taking on Sacred Heart Griffin at 7pm.
Tomorrow the large schools will finish their seasons with Oak Park Fenwick playing Kankakee in the 5a game, Cary Grove and East St Louis in 6a, Wheaton North and Chicago St Rita in 7a and in 8a it will be Lockport and Park Ridge Maine South.
