It’s quarterfinal weekend in IHSA football with several area teams still competing tomorrow. In Class 4a, a pair of Cahokia Conference teams will compete in the Elite 8 as Freeburg will play at Rochester and Breese Central is at Sacred Heart Griffin. In Class 2a, Breese Mater Dei will play at Decatur St Teresa and Nashville hosts Pana. In 3a, undefeated Mt Carmel hosts Benton. In 5a, Marion is at Kankakee while unbeaten Apollo champion Mahomet
Seymour will play at the Potters of Morton. In 6a, East St Louis will be at Lemont.
It’s also State Final weekend in high school volleyball. The Breese Mater Dei Lady Knights will play at noon today against Lombard Montini in the 2a state semifinals. Pleasant Plains will take on Chicago Christian in the other semifinal.
The day at Redbird Arena in Normal begins this morning at 9 am with the 1a semifinals with St Thomas More playing Freeport followed by Springfield Lutheran will take on Augusta Southeastern. In 3a this afternoon, Joliet Catholic will take on Nazareth Academy at 4 followed by Normal West and Belvidere North at 5:30. Then the 4a semifinals will begin tonight with Edwardsville taking on Chicago Mother McAuley at 7 pm followed by Metea Valley and Barrington at 8:30
