Last night was the Super Sectionals in prep volleyball. In Class 1a, Waterloo Gibault fell to Springfield Lutheran 25-14, 25-11 at Raymond Lincolnwood. The state final four in 1a begins on Friday at 9am in at Redbird Arena in Normal. St Thomas More will play Freeport Aquin at 9am followed by Springfield Lutheran and Augusta Southeastern at 10:30.
In 2a last night, Breese Mater Dei won the Nashville Super Sectional over Carterville 25-19, 25-14. The Lady Knights will take on Lombard Montini in a state semifinal at noon Friday followed by Pleasant Plains and Chicago Christian.
In 3a, Taylorville fell at home to Normal West 26-24, 25-21. The 3a state final four starts at 4pm Friday with Joliet Catholic taking on Nazareth Academy followed by Normal West and Belvidere North at 5:30.
The Edwardsville Lady Tigers are in the 4a final four with their 25-12, 25-21 win over Huntley in DeKalb. They will play at 7pm next Friday against Mother McAuley followed by Metea Valley and Barrington.
