The South Central Lady Cougars volleyball season came to an end as they dropped their Wayne City Sectional semifinal match to NCOE 25-12, 25-13 to finish their season at 28-7. NCOE advances to play Cumberland in the finals after their 25-20, 25-21 win over Woodlawn.
Also in 1a at Marissa, Valmeyer over Trico and Gibault beat Steeleville.
Vandalia was the 2a Sectional site where both Breese teams competed. Mater Dei won their semifinal beating Pana 25-23, 25-15. Breese Central wasn’t as fortunate, they fell to Staunton 25-18, 25-22.
Also in 2a at Johnston City, Carterville beat Carmi and Nashville over Hamilton County.
The Centralia Orphan Annies fell at the Civic Memorial Sectional, losing to Taylorville 25-21, 25-12. The Tornadoes advance to the finals where they will play Waterloo after they eliminated Mattoon.
In 4a, the Lady Tigers of Edwardsville advance to the finals at Pekin after eliminating O’Fallon 26-24, 25-22.
