ST. LOUIS (AP) — Torey Krug scored and Jordan Binnington made 25 saves in the St. Louis Blues’ 1-0 victory over the winless Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. The Blackhawks dropped to 0-7-2 to set a franchise record for the worst start to a season. Chicago was winless through eight games in 1953-54, when they were 0-7-1, and 1999-00, when they were 0-4-4. Krug scored on a power play at 7:35 of the third period. The Blues rebounded after their first loss of the season Thursday night.

— The Florida Panthers have fallen two shy of tying the NHL record for longest winning streak to start a season. The Panthers had won eight straight before Charlie Coyle provided the only shootout goal in the Bruins’ 3-2 decision over Florida. Coyle also scored a third-period goal that forced overtime. Linus Ullmark (LEE’-nuhs OOL’-mahrk) stopped 33 shots for Boston.
— Jesper Bratt scored on a third-period penalty shot to spoil Sidney Crosby’s season debut and help the Devils double up the Penguins, 4-2. Andreas Johnsson scored twice for New Jersey, including an empty-net goal with 1:43 left.
— The Avalanche earned a 4-1 win over the Wild behind Gabriel Landeskog’s (LAN’-dehs-kahgz) two goals and two assists. Erik Johnson provided the game-winner and Darcy Kuemper (KEHM’-pur) handled 29 shots for Colorado.
— Shootout goals by Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi sent the Predators to a 3-2 win over the Islanders. Tanner Jeannot (jah-NOH’) had a pair of game-tying tallies, answering goals by Anthony Beauvillier (boh-VIH’-lee-ay) and Oliver Wahlstrom.
— John Tavares had a goal and two assists to send the Maple Leafs past the Red Wings, 5-4. Jake Muzzin (MUH’-zihn) and Alexander Kerfoot each had a goal and an assist in support of Petr Mrazek (muh-RA’-zehk), who turned back 26 shots in his first win for Toronto.
— The Kings halted a six-game skid as Alex Iafallo (eye-ah-FAH’-loh) had two goal and an assist in a 5-2 downing of the Canadiens. Arthur Kaliyev and Rasmus Kupari each scored on the power play to help Los Angeles win for the first time since its season opener.
— The Sharks pulled out a 2-1 win over the Jets on Timo Meier’s power-play goal in overtime. James Reimer had 34 saves as the Sharks snapped Winnipeg’s four-game winning streak.
— The Flames own a six-game winning streak after Jacob Markstrom made 20 saves in their 4-0 shutout of the Flyers. Sean Monahan had a goal and an assist for Calgary, which hasn’t lost since an 0-1-1 start.
— Warren Foegele (FOH’-gul) and Leon Draisaitl (DRY’-sy-tul) scored power-play goals to push the Oilers past the Canucks, 2-1. Mikko Koskinen (MEe’-koh KAHS’-kih-nehn) stopped 29 shots and was seven seconds from a shutout until Brock Boeser (BEH’-sur) beat him.
