Salem Soccer’s 5th/6th grade girls had a very successful weekend. They started with their last league game on Saturday in New Baden. They won 2-1 completing a perfect league season of 7-0. Kourtney Garrion netted two goals. Talya Gowler was strong in net. Then on Sunday the competed in the Halloween BOOster Club Kick Off also in New Baden. The girls brought home first place with three tough victories. They started off against New Baden winning 2-0, then 3-0 to Highland and finished with a 2-1 victory of Aviston to seal first place. Next week they will travel to the Jackson, MO and will be sponsored by El Rancherito in Salem.
The 7th/8th grade team also completed a perfect league season. They beat Lebanon 8-4. That made them 8-0 in league play this fall. Goals were scored by Caleb Purintun (5), Robby Shober (2) and Austin Woolridge. Assist were handed out by Woolridge (3), Blayden McCloskey, Holden Richardson, Ryegan Warren and Ramiro Mendoza. They will travel to Jackson, MO next weekend for the Jackson Fall Kickoff. They will be sponsored by Grand Haven Laser and Douglas Veterinary Clinic.
