Salem Police arrested a 25-year-old Salem man for driving under the influence when he sheared a power pole in two at the East Bennett and Rotan Street intersection.

Salem Police say Kevin Moore of West Warmoth was eastbound on Bennett Street when he ran off the road and struck the pole.   Moore declined hospital treatment for his injuries.

The Salem Fire Protection District was called due to concern over the live power lines, but fire officials say no lines fell to the ground.    Salem Emergency Services assisted with traffic control until repairs could be made.

After being taken to the Marion County Jail, Moore posted $100 bond and was released.
