A 64-year-old Brownstown man received what State Police called life-threatening injuries when his cycle crashed into an SUV that made a left turn in front of him at the West Main and Selmaville Road intersection.

The cyclist is identified as Jimmy Gelsinger.  He was traveling eastbound on US 50 when a westbound SUV driven by 68-year-old Randall Kline of Salem attempted to turn left onto Selmaville Road.   The two collided at the intersection throwing Gelsinger from his bike.

Gelsinger was taken to Salem Township Hospital where he was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.   Kline was transported by ambulance to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Kline was ticketed for failure to yield when turning left.

The crash occurred at 6:47 Sunday night.
