Wildcats Soccer Season Comes To An End With Regional Semifinal Loss

The Salem Wildcats soccer season came to an end falling to the Columbia Eagles 7-0 in the regional semifinals in Columbia.  The loss puts an end to a nice season for Salem that saw them set the most wins by the program with 11 and Eli Davis set the single season goal scoring record for the Cats.  Salem loses a group of 7 seniors that has helped change the culture of Wildcats Soccer for future years to come.

Also last night in regional semifinals at Columbia, Waterloo Gibault knocked off Murphysboro 4-3.  At Altamont, Newton 4-0 over St Anthony and Hillsboro beat Altamont 2-1 with a goal with 5:32 left in the 2nd overtime period.  At Greenville, Mater Dei easily beat Staunton 7-0 and McGivney beat Wood River 9-0.  At Massac County, Althoff 8-2 winners over Mt Carmel.

Today in 1a regional semifinals at Breese Central it’s Wesclin and Lebanon.  Freeburg and Harrisburg will play from Massac County and at Raymond Lincolnwood it’s Carlinville against Pana followed by Teutopolis and Raymond Lincolnwood.
