The Marion County Health Department is reporting 134 new cases of COVID-19 during the five-day period of Saturday through Wednesday. There have been no new deaths in Marion County, but three have been reported in Jefferson County and two in Fayette County.
The Marion County Health Department reports of the 134 new cases, 19 are fully vaccinated. There are now 801 active cases on isolation, including 35 in the hospital and five of those on ventilators. The health department’s age breakdown of those in the hospital includes two in their 30s, five in their 40s, ten in the 50s, 13 in their 60s, three in their 70s, and two in their 80s.
Of the new cases, 26 are school age, five are four years old and younger. The oldest cases are six in the 70s and two in their 80s. There were no long-term care residents in those testing positive. 115 of the cases are considered to be from community spread and 19 obtained the virus from household or close contacts.
106 were released from isolation in the past five days.
The Jefferson County Health Department on Wednesday reported three new deaths. They include two men in their 70s and a woman in her 60s. One of three was fully vaccinated. Jefferson County has now had 139 virus-related deaths.
The two Fayette County deaths are coming in the health department’s weekly report from last week. Fayette County has now had 61 COVID-19 related deaths during the pandemic.
