The Salem Wildcats opened up IHSA Regional soccer on Saturday hosting Pinckneyville. Salem came away with an 8-1 victory to improve to 11-9 on the season and set up a rematch with defending state champion Columbia tomorrow at Columbia starting at 5pm. Salem played all of the first half and the beginning part of the 2nd half earlier this year with the Eagles scoreless. Columbia woke up scoring 7 times in a 10 minute stretch to take the win. Murphysboro and Waterloo Gibault will follow that game in the other semifinal.
