Two juveniles were airlifted to St. Louis hospitals for treatment following a two-vehicle crash at Calumet and Elm Street in Centralia Saturday morning.

Preliminary information from Centralia Police and Fire officials indicate a pickup driven by 23-year-old Alexander Russell of Lakeview Drive in Salem was northbound on Elm Street when he couldn’t stop in time and ran a red light and collided with an eastbound van on Calumet Street driven by 52-year-old Charles Lawson of Dover Street in Centralia.   Lawson was treated and released at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.  A six-year-old male juvenile and ten-year-old female in his van were taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital and later airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.  Russell refused hospital treatment.

The crash occurred at 10:47 Saturday morning.   The Centralia City Fire Department and Lifestar Ambulance were called to assist those injured.

Complete crash information is not yet available from Centralia Police.
