A 31-year-old Kinmundy man has died in a single-vehicle crash on the Kinmundy Road about a mile north of the Brubaker Road in rural Kinmundy.
Initial information indicates Nicholas ‘Nick’ Carroll was traveling northbound on the Kinmundy Road when he ran off the left side of the road, struck the guardrail, and overturned upside down on a creek bank. The vehicle then caught fire and was destroyed.
Marion County Coroner Troy Canon pronounced Carroll dead on the scene.
Carroll was believed to be alone in the vehicle. A passing motorist saw the vehicle on fire and reported it to 911 a few minutes past midnight.
State Police are handling the crash report. It has not yet been released.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies and United Medical Response joined State Police and the Kinmundy Alma Fire and Ambulance Service on the scene.
Carroll was a Journeyman Millwright at Millwrights Local 716 in St. Louis.
Private funeral services will be held at the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem on Thursday, with visitation from four to seven Wednesday night at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to his children. The Course Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
