Marion County Health Department reports 68 new COVID-19 cases on Friday (updated 8:15 10/9)

The Marion County Health Department is reporting 68 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says ten of the cases are in fully vaccinated persons.   Nine of the cases are in school-age persons, one in a person four and under, and none who are long-term care residents.   57 of the new cases are considered to be from community spread and 11 are from household or close contacts.

There are now 773 on isolation for active cases, including 35 who are in the hospital including five who are on ventilators.  The age breakdown of the hospitalized includes two in their 30s, five in their 40s, ten in their 50s, 12 in their 60s, 4 in their 70s, and two in their 80s.

The health department released 88 others from isolation on Friday.

Clinton County is reporting its 101st COVID-19 death, a male in his 80s.  115 new cases were reported during the week ending Friday with one new hospital admission, a male in his 70s.  There are currently 138 on-home isolation.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 19 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.  There are now 114 in isolation.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 19,244 new COVID-19 cases during the past week.  There were also 209 additional deaths.   The seven-day positivity rate has dropped to 2.1-percent.

Of Illinois’ total population, 69-percent have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and 54-percent of Illinois’ total population is fully vaccinated.
