A 66-year-old Sandoval man was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital to be checked following a three-vehicle crash that shut down Route 161 west of Centralia Wednesday afternoon.

Clinton County Sheriff’s Deputies say Richard Wright had his vehicle struck in the rear while waiting to make a left turn into Ramsour’s Farm Supply.    The car that struck Wright was driven by 19-year-old Jenna Hempker of Bartelso.   After the initial impact, Wright’s pickup sideswiped a westbound vehicle driven by 70-year-old Gary Quick of Shattuc.  The Wright vehicle then caught fire after he had exited the truck.  Hoffman Firemen were called to put out the fire.

Route 161 was closed for about two hours for cleanup and investigation.

The crash occurred at 12-22 Wednesday afternoon.
