Salem Country Club was the site for the 2a boys’ golf regional. The Salem Wildcats finished 4 strokes off of advancing as a team shooting 325. Breese Mater Dei won the event shooting 307, Columbia 321 and Althoff 321. Although they didn’t advance as a team, the Wildcats will send 4 individual golfers to the Effingham Country Club Monday for Sectionals.
Mater Dei senior Carter Goebel shot 72 to take the individual crown. Salem’s Jairen Stroud was 10th shooting 79, Cale Harris was tied for 11th shooting 80 with Steven Mulvaney and Hunter Russell also advancing shooting 83s. Brogan Gregg shot 92 and Isaak Williams 93 for this team that has just one senior with Mulvaney.
In 1a at Waterloo, Christ Our Rock’s Parker Boehne tied for 2nd with a 75 to move on to sectionals as an individual at Hamilton County next week. Vandalia won the Alton Marquette Regional shooting 320. Chase Laack was medalist shooting 72 in the victory.
