The Selmaville Rockets saw their baseball season come to an end, falling in the regional finals to top-seed Altamont Lutheran 13-3 in five-innings at the Little League Complex. Selmaville had an early 2-1 lead after the first inning, but Altamont scored 4 times in the 2nd and put another 6 runs on the board in the fifth for the win. Logan Butts doubled for the Rockets. Carter Lowe singled, scored and drove in a run, Zane Dodson added an RBI, Aaden Rostance singled and scored and Jaxon Ward also had a hit and drove in a run. Altamont advances to state this weekend where they will play Cisne.
In Class M title games, Nashville advanced to state with their 7-3 win over Aviston. Rome is advancing to the state tournament after their regional title win over Central City 4-1. Nashville will get St Boniface Co-Op in their first game at state while Rome takes on Albion.
In Class S softball regional play at the Little League Complex it was semifinal play. Willow Grove/St Mary’s Centralia knocked off Selmaville 9-5 and advances to play Patoka tonight for the title at 4:30 after their 12-2 win over Raccoon.
Also in Class S softball, Woodlawn fell to Summersville 2-1 in their title game. Summersville advances to play Elverado this weekend in the state tournament.
In Class M softball Nashville fell at home to Pinckneyville 7-5. Pinckneyville will advance to the Class M state tournament on Saturday where they will play Sesser Valier at 1:30.
