The Selmaville Rockets trailed 6-4 heading into the final inning, but plated 6 to knock off Raccoon 10-6 in their Class S regional semifinal. Riley Tate and Carter Lowe drove in 2 runs each with RBI also from Brendan Smith, Aaden Rostance and Jaxon Ward. Carter Lowe worked 4.1 innings allowing 3 hits and 4 runs, but only 1 earned with 5 strikeouts. Rostance worked the final 2.2 allowing 1 earned run and 2 hits. For Raccoon, CJ Allison had a hit and drove in 2 with RI also from Michael Organ and Jarett Rushing.
In the other semifinal at Altamont Lutheran, the host Rockets routed St Mary’s/Willow Grove 12-2 and will play Selmaville in the championship Monday evening at 6pm.
In Class L, Wesclin knocked off Highland to win the Centralia Regional 4-2.
Centralia dropped their regional softball championship at Mascoutah losing to the hosts 6-2. At DuQuoin today, Central Jr High of West Frankfort will play Benton in their regional title game.
