One person was taken to the hospital and another has been arrested in connection with an incident at the Midtown Motel at 402 North Elm Street in Centralia Wednesday night.
Centralia Police say the incident began over a theft allegation.
50-year-old Scotty Burns, who resides at the motel, reportedly began chasing 24-year-old Alvaro Martinez of Christopher while armed with a pipe. Burns allegedly struck Martinez in the arm and backpack before Martinez got away. Martinez then allegedly returned armed with a baseball bat and struck Burns over the head.
Burns was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of the injury.
Martinez was arrested for alleged home invasion with a dangerous weapon, armed violence, criminal trespass, and aggravated battery. He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges.
