Salem Soccer Association Has Great Weekend

Salem Soccer had a great weekend. Overall the program went 5-2.

The 1st/2nd grade team started the weekend off at home. They had a good game hosting Aviston. The 3rd/4th coed team played Carlyle next. They lost 1-4. Salem’s lone goal came from Alyx Pearce. The 7th/8th grade finished up the home games beating Aviston 7-0.  Kyle Keys and Ryegan Warren kept the clean sheet in goal.

Both 5th/6th grade teams traveled to Breese on Saturday. The girls team started off with a 10-0 win. Tayla Gowler was great in net. Goals were scored by Addy Douglas (5), Kortney Garrison (2), Amiya Farley (2) and Sarah Hosie. The boys came from behind to win 3-2 in extra time. John Hahs and Gabe Thomason were both in net. Noah Gaston had the hat trick with three goals, including the late game winner.  The defense played very well the entire game, bolstered by the play of Liam Shober.

On Sunday, the 3rd/4th grade girls traveled to Highland for a double header. Against the first team, they won 7-0. Goals were scored by Alyx Pearce (2), Gianna Lowder (2), Gabby Gaston, Sophia Decker and Kinsley Gansauer. After a short rest, they pulled out a 4-0 victory against their second opponent. Goals were scored by Alyx Pearce (2), Gianna Lowder, and Sophia Decker. Both games Gabby Gaston and Gianna Lowder were goalies keeping the clean sheet.
