The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department reports one person was killed and several injured in a two-vehicle crash on US 50 at the Huey Road intersection east of Carlyle Sunday night.
Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon identifies the person killed as 57-year-old Crystal Harris of the Centralia area. She was a passenger in the westbound vehicle on U.S. 50. Harris was taken by ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment, where she was pronounced dead at 9:07 Sunday night. Harris’ husband was driving the vehicle. He was also taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital and later transferred to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
Initial information from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department indicates the other vehicle was northbound on Huey Road. After the collision, it came to rest upside down in a ditch on the north side of U.S. 50. The name of the driver and any passengers in that vehicle have not yet been released by the sheriff’s department.
Without saying how the crash occurred, the sheriff’s department notes there is a stop sign at the intersection for Huey Road traffic.
A State Police Accident Reconstructionist has been called in to investigate the crash. It occurred at 7:50 Sunday night.
Several fire department and ambulance services were called to the scene to assist.
