The City of Centralia has announced Centralia Lake is being treated again on Thursday to prevent growth of nuisance ‘blue-green algae’ blooms.
The commercial algaecide known as EarthTec is being used. The liquid is registered with the US EPA and is pray applied to the water surface. The Copper in the product is at a dosage not considered to be harmful to humans or fish.
The city anticipates applying the algaecide on multiple occasions depending on water quality parameters and visual observation of floating biomass potentially comprised of aquatic plant growth such as blue-green algae.
