Salem Police arrest two on drug and theft charges following Sunday traffic stop

Salem Police arrested two people on drug and theft charges following a Sunday traffic stop.

The driver, 35-year-old Shannon Foster of North Illinois Street in Salem, was taken to the Marion County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of stolen property.

A passenger, 20-year-old Wade Morlan of Arnold Road in Iuka, was arrested for alleged possession of meth and possession of stolen property.

Salem Police report a drug pipe and containers with what is believed to be meth residue was allegedly found in the car along with checks that belonged to two rural Salem residents. In addition, Foster reportedly had a baggie with 75 or more narcotic pills with no prescription.

The traffic stop at College and Kell was originally for speeding.
