Two residents of Brick, New Jersey was killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday morning on I-70 at milepost 55 near Mulberry Grove in Fayette County.
State Police say preliminary investigative details indicate a semi-trailer driven by 55-year-old Bill Lard of Los Angeles, California was traveling westbound on I-70 when he left the left side of the pavement and traveled through the median. The semi then struck the trailer of a westbound semi driven by 31-year-old Ronald Grant of Pleasant Hope, Missouri, and then struck a car driven by a 19-year-old male from Brick, New Jersey. That caused both Lard and the car driven by the New Jersey man to skid into the south ditch.
Both the New Jersey man and a 20-year-old female from Brick, New Jersey were killed in the wreck. Their names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Lard was airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries. Grant and a passenger in his truck, 29-year-old Mariah Grant of Pleasant Hope, Missouri refused hospital treatment.
Lard was ticketed for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
The crash occurred at 9:19 Friday morning.
