The Salem City Council Monday night will consider hiring a bond advisor and bids to repaint the two west side water towers.
City Finance Director Kelli Barrow is recommending PMA Services for the bond advisor to work on the refinancing of the city’s remaining bonds to pay for the Salem Aquatic Center and Waste Water Treatment Plant. Barrow expects a savings of $100,000 to $150,000 because of the current lower interest rates.
City Manager Rex Barbee says an alternate bid to paint both Westside Industrial Park Water Towers was not presented to the city council at its last meeting. He is recommending the alternate be accepted where the low bidder, G and L Sandblastings and Coatings, would paint both water towers. One tower would be painted this year and the other in the next fiscal year.
The council is being asked to appoint Mark Larimer to the Salem Historical Commission.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at six pm Monday . It is being held via Zoom due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
