Salem Police arrested 33-year-old Timothy Morton of Morton Lane in Kell on an outstanding Marion County felony failure to appear warrant following a Tuesday morning foot chase.
Police say they advised Morton when seeing him outside the Huck’s Store that he had an outstanding warrant. He reportedly ran on foot into a grassy and wooded area between the store and Mills Crossing Apartments.
After running around a tree, Morton reportedly dove under a tree with low branches. However, police say his feet were still sticking out. Morton was then taken into custody without further incident.
He was taken to the Marion County Jail on the warrant as well as a new charge of resisting or obstructing a police officer. The warrant was issued in a pending case for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Morton later posted $500 cash bond on the warrant and was released.
