The SC Storm 14u finished 2nd at the Cape Girardeau Tournament falling to the Z20 Bombers in the Championship “If” game 3-1. This was after beating the Bombers in the first game 16-2. Lauren Johnson, Payton Campos and Kylie Nalewajke tripled in the win. Nalewajka, Ella Watwood, Kaitlyn Swift and Rhyan Fiscus each drove in 2 runs in the game.
Game 1: SC 6 Semo 1
SC opened the tournament with a 6-1 win over the Semo Stingers. The Storm scored 3 runs in the opening inning and tacked on 3 more in the 3rd. Payton Campos drove in a run for SC in the victory. Kaitlyn Swift, Ella Watwood and Abi Shuler scored runs along with Rhyan Fiscus. Watwood was the winning pitcher going all five innings allowing 3 hits and one earned run with 4 strikeouts and no walks.
Game 2: SC 3 Z20 Bombers 4
SC opened Sunday with a 4-3 loss to the eventual champion Z20 Bombers. Watwood doubled home a run in the loss. Lauren Johnson went 2-2. Abi Shuler added the other SC hit. Kyra Swift scored. Lauren Johnson gave up 2 runs, one earned in her 2/3 of an inning worked. Watwood worked the other 4.1 allowing 8 hits and 2 runs.
Game 3: SC 12 Xplosion 0
SC outhit the Xplosion 10-2 in the win. Lauren Johnson doubled and tripled as she drove in a pair of runs. Watwood drove in 3 and scored 2 of her own. Also with 2 RBI was Payton Campos and Kyra Swift also drove in a run. Rhyan Fiscus worked all 3 innings in the win allowing 1 hit and struck out 4.
Game 4: SC 16 Z20 Bombers 2
SC had their hitting shoes on as they scored four runs in the opening inning and 10 in their final 2 at-bats. Johnson, Campos and Kylie Nalewajka tripled with Johnson, Campos and Watwood also adding doubles. SC got 2 RBI each from Nalewajka, Watwood, Kaitlyn Swift and Fiscus. Kyra Swift also drove in a run along with Johnson and Shuler. Campos went 3-3 with 2 runs and a RBI. Lauren Johnson worked 2.1 innings in the circle allowing 1 hit and no runs. Fiscus worked the final 1.2 allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, only 1 run earned.
Game 5: SC 1 Z20 Bombers 3
It was early scoring that helped the Bombers to a 3-1 victory over SC. The Storm were held to just 2 hits, those were singles from Nalewajka and Kaitlyn Swift. Watwood allowed 5 hits and 3 earned runs in 3 innings of work.
