Salem’s Smith & Rubin Are All-State After Trip To Charleston

The Salem Wildcats track and field qualifiers were at the State Meet in Charleston yesterday.  Logan Rubin finished 5^th in the long jump going 6.85 meters.  But Rubin would strain his hamstring on his final jump and that would end his day.  He would have to drop from the triple jump and be replaced on Salem’s 4×400 relay team.  That team finished 22^nd in 3:38.94 and consisted of Haddon Lybarger, Rylan Crane, Sean Thornton and Jervace Mayes.  The Mt Vernon team of Evan Leake, Michael Pittman, Judd Hicks and Weston Riding were 12^th.  Salem freshman Caleb Smith PR’d in the shot put at 15.49 and finished 6^th.  Centralia’s JehChys Brown was 3^rd going 16.24 meters.

In other area finishes, Mt Vernon’s Quani Rudd was 3^rd in the high jump at 1.90m  Teammate Fischer Davis was 15^th at 1.80.  Mt Vernon pole vaulter Dakota minor was 14^th at 4.10m.  The Rams 300m hurdler Alec Sledge was 9^th in 40.30 and he was 9^th in the 300m hurdles in 40.30.  Centralia’s Brooks Harlan was 4^th in the mile in 4:18.22.  Breese Central’s Marcus Price was 9^th in the 400m in 50.51 which was a PR.  Mt Vernon’s Trey Mygatt was 10^th in the 800, Will Detmer of Breese Central was 14.
