SC To Play In 1st Ever State Tournament Today…Semifinal v. Mt Pulaski at 1pm on WJBD

The 25-3 South Central Cougars play in their first ever State Baseball Tournament today at Illinois State University.  South Central will play their semifinal game at 1pm against Mt Pulaski.  The Hilltoppers enter at 21-1 and come out of the Tomahawk Conference in Logan County.  Game time is at 1pm for the semifinal with the winner advancing to the 7pm state title game and the loser will play in the 4pm 3rd place game.  All the South Central games will be broadcasted today on 100.1 FM and WJBDradio.com.

The other 1a semifinal will feature 30-6 Father McGivney taking on 26-1 Newark.  All four teams are making their first state tournament appearances.

The 2a state tournament will be played tomorrow at ISU.  The Freeburg Midgets will play in the 2nd semifinal at 1pm against Normal University.  That will follow the first game featuring Timothy Christian and Sacred Heart-Griffin.

Also today the 3a state tournament will be played at Wintrust Field in Schaumburg.  At 10am it’s Prairie Ridge against Washington followed by Burbank St Laurence taking on Springfield at 1pm.  The state title game is at 7 and the 3rd place game at 4pm.

The 4a tournament in Schaumburg will be tomorrow.  Hononegah against Plainfield East will be followed by O’Fallon and Lake Park.
