The Salem HS softball team opened up their summer league from West Frankfort on Tuesday night. The Lady Cats dropped the opener to Waltonville 9-1. Ally Roberts had 7 strikeouts in the loss. She also had a RBI single. Avery Bass singled twice and Olivia Paulson added a hit.
Salem routed Benton 17-4 in the nightcap. Makenna Smith struck out 9 in the win. Bass added 3 more singles. Maya Susmena, Autumn Butts and Smith each doubled. Roberts singled twice while Miranda Podergois had a hit along with Ryley Lawson and Mekenzie Roberts.
