The Salem 9u Wildcats finished 2nd at the Vandalia Tournament over the weekend. They fell to Cumberland in the championship 7-0. Devan Jennings had 2 hits for the Cats with singles also from Tanner Purintun and Vince Krajefska.
Salem won their semifinal game over Vandalia 6-5. Emit Gibson and Grant Squibb drove in 2 runs each. Salem also got RBI from Purintun. He worked on the mound along with Gibson, Dakota Gregg and Jacob Butts.
Salem’s tournament opened Saturday with a 10-0 win over Altamont. Squibb drove in 3 runs going 2-2, Purintun added 2 with RBI also from Gibson, Jennings, Butts and Krajefska along with EJ Wolfe. Gregg and Gibson combined for the 4-inning no-hitter striking out 9 and walking just 1.
Salem then beat Flora 10-3. Gregg Jennings and Squibb drove in 2, Krajefska had a big game with 3 RBI. Wolfe also drove in a run.
