Lady Cats Host 1a Track Sectionals Today

The Salem Lady Cats will host the Sectional Track Meet this afternoon at Jim Finks Field Track starting at 1pm with the field events followed with the running events at 2.  Joining Salem in the field will be Anna, Benton, Cahokia, Carbondale, Carterville, Centralia, Columbia, Freeburg, Harrisburg, Herrin, Marion, Mascoutah, Massac County, Mt Vernon, Murphysboro, Waterloo and West Frankfort.

The 3a Sectionals will be held at O’Fallon featuring all the Southwestern Conference and larger schools from the central part of the state.

The 1a Sectionals were yesterday at Althoff.  Patoka’s Sierra Arnold was 4^th in the 400m.  Kyla Engel was 4^th in the 800m with Christ Our Rock’s Abigail Meyer 5^th.  Patoka’s Kyndell Sturgeon was 8^th in the 1600 with Meyer of Christ Our Rock 6^th.  Sarah McKowen of COR was 3^rd in the 3200 with Sturgeon 4^th.  Brooke Cowger was 5^th in the shot, Meyer was 9^th with Patoka’s Shaniqua Sarchet 15^th.  Cowger and Meyer were 11-12 in the discus with Sarchet 16^th.  Engel was 8^th in the long jump.
