Salem 14U rallies late for comeback win over Mt. Vernon.

The Salem 14U Wildcats were trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning before they scored four in the inning to take the lead and added seven more in the 6th inning to defeat Mt. Vernon 13-3.

The Wildcats were led at the plate by Heydin Purcell going 3-4n with 3 RBI, Luke Young also drove in three runs.  Aden Bass had two hits and an RBI.  Salem got RBI hits from Cooper Lobek, Colton Shelton, Ryan Detering and Ayden Rose.  Deytin Parker, Rhett Detering, and Silas Moats all singled as Salem recorded 13 hits in the game.

On the mound, Rhett Detering, Luke Young, and Cooper Lobek scattered four hits and struck out 10 batters.

Salem 14U is 11-3 and travels to O’Fallon this weekend for a tournament.
