The South Central Cougars knocked off Neoga in front of a big crowd at Lions Field in Kinmundy who came to watch the milestone victory. The win was the program’s 1000th since consolidation in the 1989-90 season and for coach Curt Jones, it was win #800 since taking over during the 96-97 school year.
Chase Dodson was the winning pitcher allowing 4 hits in the complete game win while striking out 13 and walking just 2. He also hit a long home run in the fifth inning as he finished the day 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Little Brother Aiden, not to be outdone, also went deep in the sixth inning, a 2-run shot, scoring Chase after he doubled. Sebastian Cowger, Sam Rubin and Andrew Magnus also drove in runs for SC.
Following the win, Coach Jones was presented a bat from Midwest Timber in Aviston with his name and 800 wins engraved with the team signing it.
