The Salem Lady Cats knocked off Columbia 6-2. Salem broke open the 1-1 tie in the sixth inning when the plated five runs to earn the conference win. Delaney Kell struck out 13 in the win for Salem. Mirdanda Podergois hit her first varsity home run.
The Salem JV softball team will play today at home against Carlyle.
The SC Lady Cougars opened up the NTC Tournament yesterday at Effingham. SC beat Dieterich in the quarterfinals 15-0. Halle Smith was the winning pitcher. At the plate, Taegan Webster had 3 hits including a home run and 5 RBI, Swift drove in a run along with Laney Webster, Michel had 2 RBI, Brooklyn Garrett had 2 singles and 3 RBI.
SC then dropped their semifinal to Windsor/Stew Stras 2-0. Taegan Webster and Swift had the only SC hits. The Lady Cougars are 15-4 and will play at Neoga today.
