Salem improved to 3-7 on the baseball season with a home win over Odin/Patoka 3-0. Salem scored a single run in the 3rd, 4th and 5th inning with RBI from Hunter Daniels and Eli Rose.
Aden Susmena made a huge defensive play in the 3rd as he made a sliding grab and threw out a runner at 1st base that would have scored a pair for the Eagles if it got through. He followed it up in the bottom of the inning with a single and run scored to give Salem an early 1-0 lead. The winning pitcher was Brighton Lucas going the first 3 innings allowing 0 hits and 0 runs with 3 strikeouts. Griffin Day, Trent Boles and Carter Rose also worked on the mound. Drew Belcher was really good for Odin/Patoka. He worked 6 innings scattering 7 hits and allowed just 1 earned run with 9 strikeouts.
South Central fell to Teutopolis 5-4 giving up 2 runs in the top of the 7th. Beau Jolliff homered and drove in a pair in the loss. Chase Thompson and Chase Dodson each drove in runs. On the mound, Aiden Dodson worked the first 6 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run. The Cougars were let down by their defense who committed 5 errors and allowed 3 unearned runs. SC falls to 7-2 on the season. The Cougars will host Webber today.
