Salem Shows Well In Multi-Team Home Track Meet

Salem hosted various teams in prep track action at Jim Finks Field.  The Wildcats were easy winners with 171 points followed by Effingham 116, Webber 73, Chester 60, Patoka 26 and Carlyle 10.  Finishing 1st for Salem was Jervace Mayes in the High Jump, Logan Rubin won the 100 and long jump, Caleb Smith won the shot and Cole Johnson the discus.  Also taking 1st were the 4×100 team of Brayden Smith, Mayes, Sean Thorton and Rubin as well as the 4×200 team of Hayden Hopkins, TJ Gillett, Ryder Goff and Brayden Phillips and the 4×400 team of Branson Pappas, Ricardo Salgado, Thorton and Rylan Crane.

Finishing 2nd for Salem were Connor Tennyson in the high jump, Jacob Ware the 3200m, Braddy Crane in the 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate.  Logan Rubin was 2nd in the 200, Caleb Smith in the discus and Mayes in the triple jump.

In the girls competition, Effingham finished with 178 followed by  Chester with 140 and Salem 3rd with 100 points.  Patoka finished with 52 and Webber 15.  Mollie Walker won the shot put with 2nd place finishes coming from Mollie Smith in the 100 and triple jump, Bella Krajefska 800, Jillie Powless long jump and Avery Robinson in the 200.  Also 2nd was the 4×200 team of Teya Cape, Robinson, Savannah Nichols and Smith.
