Lowell Dean “Grandpa” Linder, age 94 of Salem, passed away on February 22, 2021, at Salem Township Hospital.
Lowell started working in the Salem Oil Fields at the age of 17, working as a driller for 40 years. He was a farmer, driver for Dalton’s, driver for Browns Limo and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad. He served in the United States Army.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. Memorials can be made to the Donors Choice and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements. Lowell was born on August 19, 1926, in Iuka, the son of Ivan Lee and Edith Linder. He married Irene Josephine (Dodson) Linder on March 8, 1947, in Salem and she preceded him in death on May 11, 2006.
He is survived by eight children, Ivan Linder and wife Donna of Iuka, Linda Woods and husband Denny of Odin, David Linder and wife Dawn of Iuka, Dean Linder and wife Lynette of Salem, Ronald Linder of Salem, Donald Linder Sr. and girlfriend Jessie of Salem, Mike Linder and wife Angel of Salem and Jackie Griffin of Salem; one sister, Betty Doty; firstborn grandchild, Ivan Lewis Linder Jr., several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and four sisters, Margie, Rose, Melba, and Thelma “Sugar”.
