The Illinois Department of Public Health has announced 63 additional COVID-19 related deaths.  Two of them were in South Central Illinois.  A female in her 60s in Clinton County and a male in his 70s in Wayne County have passed away.  The death in Clinton County was the 89th during the pandemic.    The Wayne County death is the 51st.

The state also announced 2,219 new cases of COVID-19 and a seven-day positivity rate of 2.8-percent.

In Marion County, three new cases were reported.  None involved students or long-term care residents.  All were from community spread.

There are currently 50 active cases in Marion County.  There are 11 who are hospitalized and two who are on ventilators.   The health department is now listing 3,993 as recovered out of the 4,154 positive cases.

Clinton County reported nine new cases.  66 remain on home isolation and eight are hospitalized.

Jefferson County has four new cases and 42 currently in isolation.

Washington County is reporting five new cases on Thursday and Friday.  There are currently eight active cases and one who is hospitalized.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting seven new cases on Wednesday and Thursday.

Wayne County is reporting four new cases on Wednesday and Thursday.  20 are currently in isolation.

The Southern Illinois Regional positivity rate is now at 2.3-percent.  Marion County’s rate remains at 0.8-percent.  The Metro-East Region is 4.2-percent.  The East Central Illinois Region is at 3.3-percent.
