Five more COVID-19 related deaths are being reported in South Central Illinois on Tuesday, including three in Marion County and two in Clinton County.

The Marion County Health Department is reporting the death of females in their 60s, 70s, and 80s.  None were long term care residents.  That brings the number of deaths in the county to 110.  The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the death of males in their 60s and 90s in Clinton County.   Clinton County has now had 85 COVID-19 related deaths.

The Marion County Health Department is also reporting 26 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.  None were long-term care residents and four were students, with only one in school during their infectious period.   19 of the cases are considered community spread and seven as a result of household or close contacts.

The health department is reporting 562 active cases, including 24 who are hospitalized and one who is on a ventilator.  There were no additional recoveries reported.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 60 new positive cases on Tuesday.  There are currently 201 on home isolation and seven who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 22 new cases and 136 positive cases that remain in isolation.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting seven new cases on Tuesday.

The Clay County Health Department reported four new cases on Monday.

Statewide, 2,304 new cases were reported on Tuesday along with 47 additional deaths.  Eight of the deaths were in Madison County and one in St. Clair County in the Metro East.

The statewide positivity rate remains at 3.9-percent over the past week.

The Metro-East Region that includes Clinton and Washington County has finally reached 20-percent of ICU beds being available.   If the region is able to accomplish that for another two days, they will be able to move to a lower level of mitigations.

The Metro-East Region is at a 6.5-percent positivity rate for the second day in a row.    The Southern Illinois Region is at 4.8-percent.  The East Central Illinois Region is at 4.6-percent positivity for the past seven days.  Marion County has fallen to a positivity rate of just 2.8-percent.
