The Illinois Department of Public Health has reported three more COVID-19 related deaths in South Central Illinois on Thursday. All were in Clinton County. They included females in their 70s and 90s and a male in his 80s. Clinton County is now reporting 81 deaths since the pandemic began.
Statewide, there were 103 additional deaths on Thursday. The department also reported 4,191 new positive cases of COVID-19.
There is no new report from Marion County as the department was conducting a vaccine clinic for 200 first responders and those over 65. Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says another clinic will be held next week that will serve 200 on their waiting list. Both SSM Health and Salem Township Hospital will also be providing clinics, but the numbers to be immunized are dependent on the doses of vaccine that are received.
The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 18 new positive cases. 248 are currently on home isolation and six are hospitalized.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 17 new cases with 131 currently in isolation.
The Fayette County Health Department is reporting seven new cases on Thursday.
The Clay County Health Department is reporting 11 new cases for Wednesday.
Three new cases were reported on Thursday in Wayne County. There are currently 46 in isolation and two who are hospitalized.
The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days has fallen to 4.3-percent. The Southern Illinois Region remains at five percent. The Marion County rate has dipped to 3.6-percent. The Metro-East positivity rate remains at 7.5-percent, but for the third day in a row, ICU bed availability is at just 18-percent. That’s under the 20-percent threshold to get to a lower level of mitigation. The East Central Illinois positivity rate for the past seven days is 5.2-percent.
