Marie (Pirkey) Harrison Isaac, 97, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:30 am January 23, 2021, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Marie was active in Girl Scouts for several years, earning a five-year pin. She worked as a Secretary in several local offices, finishing her career with Walter Duncan Oil Properties where she retired in 1984. She served as organist for twenty-five years at Shiloh United Methodist Church, eight years at Central Christian Church, and four years at Southwest Christian Church. She also served as a musician in the Rebekah Lodge 296 of Mount Vernon for twenty-five years and in the Rebekah District #25 for twenty-four years. She was Noble Grand in the Local Lodge in 1976 and the District #25 President in 1982.
An Intimate Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. She was born June 20, 1923, in Waltonville, Illinois, daughter of the late Robert and Katherine (Hunter) Pirkey. On January 4, 1942, she married James Burton Harrison. He was killed in World War II on October 1, 1944. On December 29, 1945, in Mount Vernon, she married Gerald Eugene Isaac and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1995.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Harrison) Phillips Severs and husband, Glen M. Severs, Jr. of Houston, Texas; son, Rodney Dilas Isaac and wife, Lucy of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Brent E. Phillips and wife, Charlotte of Houston, Texas, Jennifer Phillips of Houston, Texas, Sara M. Clark and husband, Matthew of Mount Vernon, and Sherla J. House and husband, Corey of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Keely, and Keira of Houston, Texas and Caden, Brilynn, and Tripp of Mount Vernon; and nephew, Stephen Warren, and wife, Lynda of Mount Vernon.
Besides her parents and both husbands, Marie was preceded in death by her sister, Ella Mae Warren, and her son, William Robert Isaac.
