Linda Lue Lowery, 74, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:05 am on January 18, 2021, at her residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Lowery was a teacher at Bluford Grade School for forty years and retired as a learning disabilities teacher. She was a long time member of Donoho Prairie Christian Church and attended Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She loved to cook with her grandchildren. Linda loved to sew and knit. She knit hundreds of receiving blankets for families around Bluford. Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Donoho Prairie Christian Church in the family center. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 10:00 am at Donoho Prairie Christian Church in the family center with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Linda’s honor to Central Christian Church Food Pantry or Bluford Grade School Booster Club. Donoho Prairie Christian Church is located on the Kell road approximately six miles east of Kell. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. In addition to her loving husband of forty-four years, Linda is survived by her daughter, Patricia Verdeyen and husband, Matt of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Sarah Lowery and fiancé, Aaron Emberton of Ewing, Illinois; grandchildren, Tamrah and Lauren Lowery, Kinzlie Verdeyen, Brailynn and Ryden Emberton; twin sister, Glenna Mount and husband, Kenny of Kell, Illinois; brother, Dean Shafer and wife, Joan of Bluford, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Dale Lowery and wife, Carolynn of Bluford, Illinois, Phillip Lowery and wife, Madelyn of Roscoe, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born November 21, 1946, in Salem, Illinois to the late Walter and Wilma (Clifton) Shafer. Linda married Denzil Lowery on April 10, 1976, in Donoho Prairie Christian Church. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her son, Jared Lowery, and parents-in-law, Denzil and Pricila Lowery.
