Eileen D. Koelling, age 98 of Salem, passed away on Friday January 15, 2021 at her granddaughters’ home in Owensboro, KY. Eileen was a member of the Odin United Methodist Church and served for many years as the song leader. She worked for many years at Salem Community High School as the secretary for B.E. Gum, and retired in 1966. She and her husband Herman opened Koelling Electric in Salem in 1954 and together ran the business until they sold it in 1984. Eileen had a servant’s heart and deposited wisdom, love and grace into each life she touched.
Funeral services for Eileen D. Koelling will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with R.C. Merten officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Centralia. There will be a visitation on Thursday at the funeral home from 12:30 until the time of the service. Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Koelling of Salem; granddaughters, Amanda Wilson and husband Stephen of Owensboro, KY and Candice Ullery and husband Jason of Salem; great grandchildren, Caleb, Reagan, Elijah, Jeremiah, Josiah, Kieran, Aidan, Sophie, and Alixandria; and niece, Sue Marlow of Odin.
Eileen was born on September 29, 1922 in Odin, Illinois the daughter of Ernest and Nellie (Richardson) Deadmond. She married Herman Koelling on June 30, 1946 in Odin and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister: Vivian Heinzmann; and brother in-law: Harold Heinzmann.
