EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Aaron Henry had 20 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, helping No. 23 Michigan State pull away to beat No. 15 Rutgers 68-45. The Spartans had a 17-point scoring edge in the second half to win a second straight game after opening Big Ten play with three straight losses. The Scarlet Knights made fewer than one-third of their shots. They started 0 of 7 at the line and finished making just 3 of 12 free throws. Ron Harper Jr. had 13 points and Jacob Young scored 11 for Rutgers.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia quarterback Austin Kendall plans to play elsewhere next season. West Virginia football spokesman Mike Montoro confirmed Tuesday that Kendall has put his name into the NCAA’s transfer database. Kendall came on in relief of Jarret Doege in the second half of the Liberty Bowl to throw two touchdown passes and lead the Mountaineers to a 24-21 victory over Army. Kendall also appeared in a backup role in the season opener against Eastern Kentucky. Kendall came to West Virginia from Oklahoma as a graduate transfer a year ago and started the first nine games before Doege finished out the 2019 season.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa wrestler Spencer Lee is looking to take care of unfinished business this season. The cancellation of the NCAA Tournament last March cost Lee an opportunity to win a third straight national championship. He went 18-0 and led the Hawkeyes to the Big Ten title. He was winner of the Dan Hodge Trophy as the nation’s top college wrestler and a co-winner of the AAU James E. Sullivan Award as the nation’s top amateur athlete. Iowa is the unanimous No. 1 team in the preseason. Five of the top seven teams in the rankings are from the Big Ten.
