ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Hunter Dickinson scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half and No. 16 Michigan remained unbeaten with an 85-66 rout of No. 19 Northwestern. Chaundee Brown, Franz Wagner and Eli Brooks scored 14 points apiece for the Wolverines, who are the Big Ten’s last remaining team without a loss. Michigan took control by scoring the last nine points of the first half and then quickly extended its lead early in the second. Robbie Beran scored 14 points for Northwestern, which has dropped two in a row after a promising start.
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Naz Hillmon scored 26 and Leigha Brown scored 22 and 16th-ranked Michigan shook No. 15 Northwestern 84-63. Brown and Hillmon each scored 20 in the first half. Brown’s jumper with 6:58 left in the third quarter put the Wolverines up 35 (64-29) for their largest lead of the game. In its second game since a 22-day layoff due to COVID-19-related issues last month, Michigan has outscored the opposition by an average of 32 points per contest. (AP) — Nia Clouden scored 13 of her 23 points in the final 10-plus minutes to help No. 25 Michigan State turn aside a feisty Purdue rally, 71-64, and preserve the Spartans’ best start to a season in eight years. Alisia Smith added 15 points in her first double-digit scoring game, and Julia Ayrault scored 10 as Michigan State notched its first 8-0 start since the 2012-13 season. Kayana Traylor scored 16 points to lead Purdue, which was seeking win No. 300 for coach Sharon Versyp. The Boilermakers launched a 15-2 run to come within 41-40 late in the third, but Clouden ended the quarter with a basket and MSU held on.
