Arthur Wayne Ackley, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 pm December 26, 2020 at his residence. Arthur worked in construction for the Local 1136 and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, casinos, billiards, and antiques. He most loved drinking coffee with his friends at Hardee’s and spending quality time with his family. He was dearly loved by many and will be missed by all his family and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Sursa Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois. The Graveside Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Don Rector officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Arthur’s honor to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. In addition to his beloved wife, Arthur is survived by his son, Allen (Zach Marston) Ackley of Coalinga, California; daughters, Pam Brumfield of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Rebecca (Stefan Williams) Cross of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Patricia Wagers of Carterville, Illinois; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Gary (Rita) Ackley of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sisters, Wilma (Bill) Rhodes of Ottumwa, Iowa and Ruth Ella Harris of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was born August 25, 1939 in Mount Vernon to the late Clifford Wayne and Ruth Viola (Ramsey) Ackley. Arthur married Mary Jane (Smith) Ackley on January 25, 1960 in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with nearly 61 years of marriage. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his daughters, Kathy Lynn Ackley and Tresa Jane Gunter; sister, Garnetta Forth; brothers, Wallace Ackley, Dovis Ackley, and Wesley Ackley; and parents-in-law, Horace and Lorene Green.
