Terry Blais, formerly from Woodlawn, died December 17 at the age of 71.
Terry loved doing word search puzzles and did hundreds of puzzles through her later years. She was quick with them and good at it! She also loved it when her nieces and nephews came to visit, especially Reni who always made her and the other residents smile.
Terry will be missed by her family and her friends at the nursing home. Although her family could not be with her due to Covid restrictions, Terry’s favorite nurse, Susan Kennedy, was by her side and held her hand while she went from this earthly life to her everlasting home in Heaven. The family would like to thank Susan for her kindness shown to Terry through the years.
Terry was cremated and her ashes will be buried in Oddfellows Cemetery in Woodlawn at a later date when it is safe due to the Covid pandemic. Call Hughey Funeral Home at 618-242-3348 or visit hugheyfh.com for further information.
Terry was the daughter of Ramona McCaslin and Wayne Sanner but was raised by her mother and stepfather, James Munyon. Terry struggled with mental illness for many years. In her better years, she raised her dog Frisky and carried him around like a baby on her shoulder. She loved all animals but nothing as much as her Frisky. She died in DeRidder Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in DeRidder, Louisiana.
Terry leaves to mourn her passing her sister Connie ( Michael) Schlabach from Lafayette, Louisiana. She also leaves behind two brothers John Munyon (Cathy) and Mike Munyon, both of Woodlawn, Illinois. She loved her nieces and nephews Kyle, Cory, Colin, and Cody, and Eden Schlabach all of Lafayette, Jay Munyon from Oregon and James Munyon from Mt. Vernon, along with Caity Schlabach Byers, Cathy Schlabach and Cassandra Schlabach Romero, and Reni Schlabach, all of the Lafayette area. She also had several great-nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Ramona Munyon, her grandparents Raymond and Imogene McCaslin, a nephew, Kern Schlabach, and a sister-in-law, Karen Munyon.
