John Eric Garrison, age 56 of Salem, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
John was born on August 1, 1964, in Salem, IL, the son of M. Thomas “Tom” and Barbara Ann (Boyles) Garrison. He married Donna Kaye (Watson) Potter on November 23, 2005, in Salem and she survives in Salem.
In addition to his wife, Donna Garrison, he is survived by his mother, Barbara Garrison of Salem; three children, Ronnie Potter, Ryan Potter and fiancé Sara Provance and Pamela Holsapple and husband Jarrod; two brothers, David Garrison, Sr. and his wife Brenda and Paul Garrison and significant other Angela Woodward both of Salem; seven grandchildren, Alex, Zack, Lucas, Payton, Drayton, Colton, and Liliana.
John was preceded in death by his father; brother, Thomas Mark “Smoky” Garrison; grandparents, Clarence Orvil and Juanita Garrison and Waldo and Kathyrne Boyles
John graduated from Salem Community High School where he participated in many sports. John was employed by the Salem Plant of North American Lighting as a Senior Quality Engineer. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He had served in the Army National Guard.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at 1:00 pm at the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with visitation from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Masks must be worn, and social distancing observed. Military Rites will be held at the funeral home by the Salem American Legion. Private interment will be at Iuka Cemetery at a later date. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Salem “Shop with a Cop” and can be received at the funeral home.
